Dexamethasone for bronchiolitis benefits babies with familial atopy

Adding dexamethasone to salbutamol treatment for acute bronchiolitis in babies with eczema or a family history of asthma was linked to shorter hospital stays than standard treatment, a study in the journal Pediatrics showed. The average amount of time babies in the dexamethasone group stayed in the hospital was 18.6 hours compared with 27 hours in the usual therapy group.
