Effects from SK Hynix fab fire could last for months

The Sept. 4 fire at SK Hynix's wafer fabrication facility in Wuxi, China, may take several months for the company to clean up and resume full production, DRAMeXchange reports. Prices for PC DRAMs spiked more than 27% last week as buyers scrambled to find other sources of supply, Lucas Mearian writes. The production lull at the Wuxi fab could spell good fortune for competitors Micron Technology and Samsung Electronics, speculates DRAMeXchange.
