Hospitals begin ACA outreach effort

Hospitals are training navigators and hiring contractors to help patients enroll in health insurance plans, setting up hotlines, and conducting outreach at community events, child care centers, churches and soup kitchens. More insured patients will cut hospitals' spending on care for people who cannot afford it, experts say. CEOs of the American Hospital Association, Catholic Health Association and Federation of American Hospitals urged their members to educate health care providers and patients on enrollment and insurance options.
