How patent law has shifted

Several important adjustments to patent law have occurred during the past few years. The most noteworthy development was the U.S.'s decision to replace its first-to-invent system with a first-to-file system, which attorneys say has changed firms' research strategies and business plans. In addition, the U.S. has added a fast track for patent applications and has increased the fees involved with re-examination requests.
