HP puts up $300,000 in prizes for mobile hack competition

Hewlett-Packard will encourage people to hack mobile applications at a Tokyo conference in November, offering $300,000 for those who can demonstrate security vulnerabilities. "HP's Zero Day Initiative, with support from its sponsors, has also increased the amount of prize money available to $300,000, compared with $240,000 last year," HP's Brian Gorenc said of the second annual Mobile Pwn2Own competition. He added, "All [mobile browser] targets will be installed in the default configurations giving all contestants an even playing field."
