N.J. district bans food, non-food treats from celebrations

Food and non-food treats have been banned from birthday celebrations in a New Jersey school district after reports that students with food allergies have become ill following the classroom parties. The ban also eliminates the need for treats to be checked for choking hazards or banned foods. Under the policy, officials say celebrations will be marked with games and music instead.
