NPD: Children eat 4 snacks a day

Research from NPD Group indicates children between the ages of 6 and 12 eat an average of four snack foods per day, with potato chips, fresh fruit and yogurt being the top choices, while teens prefer gum and chocolate. "Snack foods are increasingly becoming a part of the lunch bag carried by children to school, just as snack foods are becoming part of main meals for all of us," said Harry Balzer, NPD chief industry analyst.
