Plasmonic nanostructures: How more energy could be harvested from light

University of Pennsylvania researchers are employing plasmonic nanostructures to improve the energy efficiency of solar cells and possibly to boost the speed of optical communications. These nanostructures are made from arrays of gold nanoparticles and porphyin molecules, the research team reports.
