Testing among former drug users useful for ID of HCV

Offering hepatitis C screening to former injection drug users was useful for identification of HCV cases, according to a study from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. According to the study, the number-needed-to-screen per case of anti-HCV positivity was 1.8. "In the era of effective hepatitis C treatment, clinicians should take the lead to increase treatment uptake and help underprivileged groups," said researcher Dr. Vincent Wai-Sun Wong.
