Handhelds provide professors real-time feedback

The University of Massachusetts and other large schools are requiring that students use handheld wireless transmitters to indicate whether they understand lectures. Professors adjust their pacing according to data presented on their laptops depicting how accurately students answer multiple-choice questions during the lectures.
