Seattle residents want study on quieter, rubberized pavement

Residents of Seattle's Eastside neighborhood are trying to force the city's Sound Transit to conduct a study on the feasibility of using noise-reducing rubberized pavement for the Interstate 90 bridge. While the material has been successful in Arizona and other regions, Sound Transit argues the material wouldn't hold up under Washington's studded tires, and the agency says it is not required to conduct the study.
