Bill urges schools to add more P.E., health

Schools would be required to teach healthy lifestyles and physical activity under a new bill introduced by Rep. Ron Kind, D-Wis. The Fit Kids Act would encourage schools to offer a half hour of daily physical education for elementary students and 45 minutes for older students, which could help reverse the trend of cutting P.E. classes even as the childhood obesity rate grows, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote in an editorial.
