U.K. agency warns on mixed diet messages

Conflicting messages put out by various diet plans could be causing consumers to be confused about what makes up a balanced diet, the U.K.'s Food Standards Agency warns. A balanced diet includes defined percentages of fruit and vegetables, starchy foods, milk and dairy foods, and meat, fish, eggs or other nondairy protein sources, according to the agency, and only 8% of foods or beverages that are high in fat or sugar.
