Implantable device promotes blood-sugar control, weight loss

The EndoBarrier Gastrointestinal Liner was found to be effective in lowering blood-sugar levels and promoting weight loss in patients with Type 2 diabetes in preliminary clinical trials. The device works much the same way as bariatric surgery, but it provides a noninvasive approach because it can be inserted into the small intestine via the mouth.
