Researchers explore premixed insulin as blood-sugar regimen

Premixed insulin, a combination of the short- and long-acting forms of the hormone, provides better glucose management compared with oral drugs or long-acting insulin alone, U.S. scientists learned. The study also found that premixed human insulin and premixed bioengineered insulin offer the same blood-sugar benefits. Further studies are needed to verify whether premixed products are safer than standard therapies, researchers said.
