Study: FDG-PET outperforms spiral CT in detecting certain metastases

FDG-PET detected significantly more metastatic sites in patients with stage III melanoma and palpable lymph node metastases than spiral CT, a comparative study of the two imaging techniques found. The study was presented at last week's 14th Congress of the European Society of Surgical Oncology in the Netherlands.
