Melvin Simon, a legend in the mall business, dies at 82

The pioneering retail developer Melvin Simon, who in his lengthy career built everything from strip centers to the biggest mall in the U.S., has died at 82. "He was a tough negotiator," said Arnold Aronson, the CEO of Saks from 1979 to 1984. "But he was, in my estimation, fair and honest."
