Animal-loving attorneys aim for greater parity under the law

Efforts to represent wildlife impacted by the BP oil spill are the latest example of a growing movement among some attorneys and animal advocates to treat animals more like humans and less like property in the eyes of the law, the ABA Journal reports. The movement is shifting arguments in cases ranging from allegations of livestock abuse on dairy farms to lawsuits filed to fight breed-specific dog bans.
