Groups push for a 1-year NFIP extension in the Homeland Security bill

Insurance trade groups are working to include a provision in the Homeland Security Department's appropriation bill that would reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program for one year as Congress is unlikely to pass legislation for a long-term extension of the program. PCI's Don Griffin is concerned that Congress still does not have "a clear path for the NFIP reauthorization" as lawmakers are focused on tax reductions and the midterm elections. "We have to keep up the pressure. ... This is one of our top priorities," he said.
