Advocacy group brings take-your-pet-to-work day to a new level

The Washington, D.C., offices of the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council, a group that advocates for causes related to pet ownership, are populated by all manner of animals from humans and dogs to snakes and fish. Employees are all about animals, according to council President and CEO Mike Canning, who shared this tidbit: "You have to sample the various dog foods we represent before you start working here. I've tried a wide variety of dog food myself, particularly with milk in the mornings." The group's main focus is "promoting the human-animal bond," according to Canning, who said the council is currently focused on convincing Amtrak to allow pets on trains.
