Automated "Lola" dispatches Nashville, Tenn., fire, ambulance crews

A text-to-voice software system named "Lola" or "Lolo" might help Nashville Emergency Communications Center dispatchers in Tennessee reduce response times and improve call management during busy periods. Lola can give first responders faster notice of new emergencies than dispatchers' spoken alerts. To set up the system, emergency officials went around the city to learn the correct, Nashville-specific pronunciation for street names to use.
