The high value of the Australian dollar has prompted developers who once worked at top-notch and now-defunct studios to start anew as independent developers, Rebecca Le May writes. For example, Flat Earth Games was started by ex-Grand Theft Auto developers, and its team is working on a game called TownCraft without salary, instead using profit-sharing plans upon completion. "There are a lot of cool startups, incubators and things like that that are pushing things along," co-founder Leigh Harris says.
