Early antiretrovirals drastically reduce spread of HIV in study

French researchers found that early antiretroviral treatment may help reduce the risk of HIV transmission by up to 90%. The 957-patient study in West Africa underscores the importance of access to early diagnosis and intervention, investigators reported in the Journal of Infectious Diseases.
