IBM algorithm gives chefs digital inspiration

IBM researcher Lav Varshney has created an algorithm that scans recipes and food chemistry information to determine the best food mixtures based on course, dietary restrictions and cuisine type. The program creates a lists of ingredient combinations but no recipe -- leaving skilled chefs to translate the program into tasty concoctions.
