Multifamily developers look past drop in demand

Although recent statistics show that renters prefer single-family homes, developers continue building apartment units, counting on projections from the U.S. Census Bureau for growth in the young adult demographic, a group that favors multifamily housing. Economists also predict that when unemployment eases, younger adults who are still unable to buy will find jobs and head into multifamily rentals.
