Regulation forces CCP risk-management competition, expert says

The European Market Infrastructure Regulation and rules on central securities depositories will force central counterparties to compete with one another on risk management, despite their claim to the contrary, says John Wilson, head of over-the-counter clearing at Newedge Group. "We hear regularly [CCPs] do not compete on risk management, but they all fundamentally compete on risk management because that's the only thing they can compete on," he said.
