Study: Project-based program boosts math and reading skills

A project-based program being used at Expeditionary Learning middle schools in Washington, D.C., and New York City is showing promise in boosting math and reading skills, according to a study by Mathematica Policy Research. Data show students gained about a full academic year of additional math learning after three years, and seven months of additional reading skills after three years, compared with students in other district schools.
