Summer's heat warmed up sales at Debenhams

Debenhams, which warned in March that it was cutting prices to move surplus stock after a slow winter, booked a 1.9% rise in same-store sales for the 10-week period ending Aug. 31. The rise, along with improved profit margins, was fueled in part by summer's heatwave and even more by a strong surge in online sales, said CEO Michael Sharp.
