New York City creates school safety office

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has approved the creation of the Office of School Safety and Planning. The new office would create safety plans and disciplinary procedures for students with poor classroom behavior. "A prerequisite to learning is students and teachers coming into schools that have a safe and orderly environment," Bloomberg said.
