After outcry, school district overhauls construction plan

HISD, the public school district in Houston, was forced to revise an $805 million construction plan after complaints from parents, politicians and the city's largest business organization. The revised plan was introduced Monday and includes proposals to renovate rather than replace some campuses and abandoning plans to create prekindergarten through eighth-grade campuses in the Fifth Ward.
