Danisco launches chemical preservative substitute

Danisco USA has introduced an alternative to chemical preservatives called MicroGARD 730, which can be used in heat-and-eat foods such as soups, mixed meals and deli salads. The new product, which the company will primarily market in North America, has broad antimicrobial activity that can neutralize organisms like yeast, molds and pathogens. The FDA has agreed that it can be listed as a cultured dextrose, making the new preservative clean-label friendly.
