D.C. Catholic schools could become secular charters

Some Washington, D.C., parochial schools could become charters as the Roman Catholic Archdiocese considers converting eight campuses with increasing deficits and declining enrollment into independent, secular charters. If D.C. charter authorities don't approve the plan, the schools will likely be shut down, officials with the Washington Archdiocese said.
