Restaurant industry responds to health-conscious times

Quickservice giants, including McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's, are taking varied steps to offer healthier fare as Americans pay more attention to their diets and obesity issues. "I think that quickservice restaurants have done a great job of offering and highlighting [healthier] items," said the director of nutrition policy at a restaurant association. "A lot of their campaigns recently have focused on the elimination of trans fat oils, on offering more entree salads and better options for side dishes like fruits and low-fat skim milk."
