Home Depot to try deep-discounting to shore up sales

Home Depot will launch a national TV, print, radio and in-store effort for its new "guaranteed low prices, even lower" pitch, in which prices on about 1,200 items will be discounted between 5% and 50%. The price cuts are meant to help Home Depot, which is projecting a 5% sales drop for the 2008 fiscal year, to boost its position in the home-improvement segment against rivals Lowe's and Wal-Mart, according to this article.
