PR firm helps drum up support for AA/BA deal

In its quest to win antitrust immunity for a three-way international partnership, American Airlines has turned to PR firm Weber Shandwick to help drum up grassroots support. Among the airline's efforts is a new Web site, www.moretravelchoices.com, that features a form letter supporters can submit to the Department of Transportation. A spokesperson for American says such PR campaigns are "a common feature of U.S. politics, and in the past we have had massive support from employees, customers and other stakeholders."
