Fiduciary standard could help FINRA's move toward oversight

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority would examine broker-dealers under a fiduciary standard to be proposed by the Securities and Exchange Commission. The standard could give FINRA an advantage in its effort to become the self-regulatory organization for advisers, according to Kevin Carroll, associate general counsel at SIFMA.
