Iowa utility reinforces concrete flood walls

Cedar Falls Utilities in Iowa is raising its existing concrete flood walls by 3.5 feet as part of a project to protect its plant against a 500-year flood. The $4.9 million project will be funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and will include a wall on the south end of the facility plus a landscaped berm and a floodgate on another portion of the property.
