Online marketers fear expanded domains spell doom for small businesses:

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers' proposal to expand the types of domain names companies and organizations can apply for has run into serious objections from online marketing groups that say the pricey plan will hurt business for online retailers of all sizes. The application fee for the new domains is $185,000, beyond the reach of most small- and medium-sized businesses, and the cost to challenge a registration could run up to $50,000.
