U.S. companies held record levels of cash in Q2

U.S. companies are hoarding cash at a rate not seen since 1945, the Federal Reserve reports. Cash reserves at nonfinancial companies totaled $2.047 trillion during the second quarter, a 4.5% increase over the first quarter. Companies have reduced spending on activities such as mergers and buybacks amid increased economic uncertainty.
