Google counters Facebook's Instagram with Snapseed deal

Google has acquired Nik Software, which makes Snapseed, an Instagram-like photo-editing application that was named the iPad application of the year in 2011. The program is more robust than Instagram, even if it's not free, Sarah Mitroff writes. "The acquisition could help Google add even more photo features to Google+, or help it build its own Instagram-like functionality into the Google+ apps," Mitroff writes.
