Government program will form "makerspaces" around the country

The U.S. Department of Education has announced a new grant program funded by the research arm of the military that will create 1,000 "makerspaces" on high-school campuses over the next four years. "I think it's sort of a mashup of a shop class, a computer lab, an art class, and maybe a bio lab," said Dale Dougherty, co-developer of the effort.
