Universal pitches movie with push notifications, geotargeting

Universal Pictures is promoting its film "Pitch Perfect" with periodic opt-in push notifications. The campaign in partnership with timeRAZOR also includes social media links inviting mobile users to share and providing more information on the film and the nearest theaters that will show it. "Similar to the Foursquare save button but with tighter and more pervasive technology, we allow our users to opt-in via the 'Never Miss Out' button, then we proactively alert our users, who've opted-in, to local activities near them almost like a geo-contextualized Google Alert," said timeRAZOR CEO Jeff White.
