Analysis: White's past makes SEC position tricky

Mary Jo White, head of the Securities and Exchange Commission, has had to recuse herself from a number of high-profile cases because of conflicts of interest. White is prevented from working on cases involving clients of her previous employer, the law firm Debevoise & Plimpton, for a period of two years. The SEC says White's recusals are having no effect on the operations of the regulatory agency.
