August's rise in U.S. housing starts disappoints

U.S. housing starts rose just 0.9% last month, suggesting that higher interest rates are beginning to take a bite out of the vital market that underpins much of the U.S. economy. Although the number fell short of expectations, analysts remained moderately optimistic that the higher rates won't derail the sector's recovery.
