Canada's retail market grows hotter, experts say

Canada's retail landscape is hotter than ever with the entry of Target into the market, Loblaw's purchase of Shopper's Drug Mart and Hudson's Bay Co.'s planned acquisition of Saks, said experts gathered in Toronto for the International Council of Shopping Centers annual Canadian conference. "The number of mergers and acquisitions that have been done in recent months combined with the inflow of major brands underscores Canada’s position as an active and highly sought after market," said Tom Balkos, a Canadian director of CBRE’s retailer services group.
