Frank touts competition as key for derivatives

Former U.S. Rep. Barney Frank says he viewed competition as a key component in reforming the derivatives market. Requiring that derivatives be traded on exchanges was an important plank for Frank in the crafting of the Dodd-Frank Act, and the new rules are now beginning to come online. Frank says he felt that migrating trades onto exchanges would increase transparency and reduce risk.
