Home care workers to be included under Fair Labor Standards Act

Nearly 2 million home care workers in the U.S. will be required to receive minimum wage and overtime protections starting in 2015 after the Obama administration announced Tuesday they will be reclassified to be covered under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Industry leaders such as National Association for Home Care and Hospice Chairwoman Andrea Devoti voiced concerns the reclassification would increase Medicaid and Medicare spending, increase costs for families, and result in fewer jobs.
