House declines to take up science laureate bill

Republican leaders in the House last week blocked consideration of a bill that seeks to establish a science laureate position. At least one prominent conservative raised concerns that President Barack Obama would fill the position with scientists who support his views on climate change. Supporters of the bill say its aim is to increase public interest in science.
