Consumer experts explain the ins and outs of layaway plans as retailers including Wal-Mart, Toys R Us and Sears roll out their programs for the holidays. "A lot of retailers expect this to be another big year for layaway. Layaway has re-emerged as a budget-savvy way to keep family spending in check during the holiday shopping season," said Kathy Grannis, NRF's senior director of media relations.
