Los Angeles County gets $6.9M grant to curb auto insurance fraud

Los Angeles County has received a $6.9 million grant from the state to fight auto insurance fraud. The county's insurance-fraud claims represented 43% of those investigated by the state in 2012, said California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones. "While this is a big issue statewide, unfortunately, Los Angeles has dubious distinction of being the auto fraud capital of the Golden State," Jones said.
